Join us on May 18th at 4 p.m. EASTERN TIME for a Convo with Dr. Jenny Knight. Jenny asked how Codon Learning usage impacts student performance and self-regulation. Self-regulated learning is the active participation in and control of one's learning. It contributes to early academic success and long-term persistence, transfer of learning to new settings, and improved performance. Professor Knight will lead a discussion on how components of self-regulated learning are supported in Codon, and the effect of using these components on student success.
Dr. Jenny Knight has been teaching biology courses at all levels in the Department of Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado Boulder for over 20 years. Jenny is the Chief Academic Officer at Codon Learning and developed the Genetics course with colleague Dr. Christy Fillman. Her work as a Biology Education Researcher has included developing concept assessments to diagnose student misunderstandings and measure learning gains, developing and facilitating workshops on scientific teaching (with NIST), and studying how students learn by engage in complex problem solving, reasoning, and self-regulation. She was a founding member of the Society for the Advancement of Biology Education Research (SABER), and its president (2019-2020).
